I started my new job on today; my first day’s (paid) work for a year. It was a rather strange first day as, although I got up on time to “go to work”, I didn’t actually have any work to go to and I didn’t know who I was working for.
Anyway, I got a phone call at 11:00 am telling me to meet my new manager in a community centre on the other side of town at 2:30 pm.
So I put on my working clothes (probably the first time in three months that I’d worn a skirt), reported for duty, was duly inducted, given my equipment, my paperwork, my assignments and sent on my way.
Tomorrow, I start counting the population. I may be some time.
