I started writing reviews a few years ago. I started on Amazon, as one does, then moved on to Daily information. A couple of months ago, I was invited onto the Amazon Vine programme, which meant that I could choose (free) books from their review list.
Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, I’ve been dipping my toes into the world of journalism. When the Oxford Literary Festival hit town back in April I took the opportunity to interview Ann Cleeves, author of the Vera Stanhope novels.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, a casual glance in Waterstones’s shop window alerted me to a new novel (A Habit of Dying) by local author DJ Wiseman. Having read the book and reviewed it on both Amazon and Daily Information, I got in touch with the author and interviewed him over coffee last Friday morning. The interview went online today.
Is it a step in the direction of a new career or just a pleasant and constructive use of time? Time will tell.
