There was a time when I did the daily commute from Oxford to London and was at my desk in Tottenham Court Road at 8:30. Last Friday saw a rather more realistic 11:00 rendezvous in Trafalgar Square and not a desk in sight.
The occasion was a visit to the National Portrait Gallery’s “Glamour of the Gods” exhibition (photos from the golden age of Hollywood) followed by “Treasures of Heaven” (mainly reliquaries from medieval Europe) at the British Museum. Also managed to take in a lot of sunshine and a stray Viking.
