Westbury Book ExchangeOn Tuesday I headed off to Westbury-sub-Mendip in not so sunny Somerset to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones.

Getting there is fairly straight forward, although I rather wish that my satnav included a “most sensible route” option alongside “fastest” and “shortest”. The “fastest” route takes you down the A32 and M4 and then dumps you slap bang in the middle of Bristol where you have to somehow turn back on yourself through an unforgiving one-way system. I came back via Bath – much more genteel.

The weather was cold and overcast which meant that it wasn’t possible to sit out in Mrs P’s amazing garden, but we did manage a short walk round the village – the highlight of which was the internationally famous Westbury Book Exchange – basically a library in an old red phone box.
