Didcot Power Station from Garsington 2Last Sunday I went to Garsington, famous for its opera and its connection to the Bloomsbury Set through Lady Ottoline Morrell. My objective was a set of painted windows in the parish church, in connection with a small piece of historical detective work, of which more anon.

I found what I was looking for, but also found some amazing views and a very windy day. How do you photograph the wind? My first idea was to take a series of potos in quick succession and then combine them in Photoshop. The result is interesting, but doesn’t quite capture movement in the way I’d hoped.

Windy dayThe next idea was to stand as still as possible and take a single shot with a long exposure, combining the effect of the wind on both the tree and my body – I think this works better.
