Choir and musicians take a break

A night off from electioneering to enjoy Fanfare! – a concert of 16th and 20th century festival music in the historic setting of St Mary’s, Kidlington courtesy of KAOS* and the Oxford Brass Ensemble.

The concert was opened by the Sun**, making a guest appearance, illuminating the stained glass in the west window, thereby creating a dramatic backdrop to the choir and setting the tone for the evening’s performance of largely liturgical music.

Musical highlights included splitting the choir into two to perform works originally written for St Mark’s, Venice and a closing Magnificat by Paul Patterson – a challenging and complex piece which the performers carried off to perfection – a real tour de force. Congratulations to all concerned.
