Attempting to create the illusion (or is it delusion?) of exercise, I took a short walk yesterday and stopped for a while to watch a flock of sheep in a field. Sheep watching is one of the many joys of retirement, although sometimes they watch you back, which can be a bit unnerving.
Anyway, I noticed that one of the sheep was wearing some sort of harness – presumably the result of an injury.
On the way back, I saw that the sheep were being rounded up by a shepherd and a couple of sheepdogs. I’ve never seen sheepdogs in action in real life and was completely fascinated. Once they were gathered together, the shepherd went in, hoiked the injured sheep from amongst the flock, put it in a trailer and drove away with it, presumably for further examination and treatment.
Just a lovely thing to see.
The picture isn’t very good – it was at a distance and I only had my phone, but if you look carefully, you may just be able to make out the sheep to the right and the shepherd’s 4×4 to the left.
