On the 28th February 2020 I had an exchange of emails about an upcoming youth trip to Watford. As an unreconstructed news buff, I was aware of something called “Coronavirus” so suggested that the group should be equiped with hand sanitizer and tissues. Privately I thought that we might be over-reacting, so I checked with our health and safety adviser who said that we weren’t, the precautions were sensible and the latest government advice was that it wasn’t necessary to avoid crowded places.

Yesterday I drove to a venue where a professional football match was taking place in an empty stadium and, wearing a face mask and observing social distancing, was injected against Coronavirus with a vaccine that didn’t exist a year ago.
